Cuprisoides natashkavor (Natashkavor)
Inspired by Pterophyllum scalare.
This sculpture is formed from a pair of size 39 ankle-strap stilettos, a chopped-up suspender belt, superheated copper, recycled mantelpiece clock hands, and other recycled items. Each eye is formed from a suspender connected to the tail, and includes a dimly-lit pink LED encased in the suspender’s clasp. The fin rays have warm-white micro-LEDs at the tips, as do the dorsal and ventral fins; secured in clock hands. The overall effect is for very subtle lighting.
The base is made from scrap outdoor timber stained in oak finish, and the support stand from copper tubing with heat-treated copper “seaweed”.
Natashkavor is powered by 2 x AA batteries at the rear – a set of fresh ones will provide 80 – 100 hours of illumination.
